solar

This is an old revision of the document!

  • You could do a East-North virtual tracker with probably 1/3 over-capacity.
  • Split panels into sections facing different directions, have more panel capacity than inverter. Instead of bell curve production you get two or three bell curves (for two or three sections of panels) so they're hitting peak production at different times. Peak power production isn't any higher, but is streched wider time-wise. Gives basically the same production curve as a very expensive motorised auto tracking mount.

Mounting angle effects instantaneous production, virtual tracker is about holding that level of production for a longer amount of time.

  • East panels go on the roof above the family room facing the sheep paddock.
  • Replacement solar hot water goes where current solar hw is.
  • North panels ??? Garage? Above our bedroom?
  • Get an independent person to do a site inspection.
  • i.e. Alan from Alectric or whoever Darren Billet used to continually tell everyone to use.
  • Need to do a solar survey
